Why is it popular to hate things?

Fri Nov 13, 2009, 1:10 AM
I mean, we've all heard about the Twilight-hater-fandom. It's... popular to hate Twilight, apparently. I don't like it much, but I don't hate it to the ends of the world. I just think, personally, it's badly written. I haven't even read the whole thing, though. And the movie, well...

And now apparently it's popular to hate this Owl City band? I like one of their songs, I've heard more but the others didn't seem to appeal to me. Meteor Shower just has a nice thing to it.

But really? Why do people seem to consider themselves smart and 'in' if they dislike something? Do people really like taking the piss out of people who like these things *that* much? Jesus. The internet will always be like this, won't it? The internet seems like a horrible, horrible place to get involved in.

Shame that lolcats are so funny. =(
